-What are OEM parts and why do we offer them?
We always recommend genuine Mercedes parts in critical assemblies but our unwavering industry presence has helped us secure strong links to OEM Mercedes manufactures for other parts. OEM is an acronym for Original Equipment Manufacturer. In most cases these parts originate from the same factory line as their genuine counterparts, differing only by the absence of a Mercedes 3 pointed stamp and the subsequent price markup this marking incurs. We do not recommend the use of aftermarket parts in most cases as they often fail prematurely and are not equivalent to the genuine/oem counterpart.
Have you ever managed to inspect your brake caliper? If so you may notice the ATE stamp to your surprise. That’s because ATE manufacture brake components for Mercedes Benz. At Prostar we provide ATE brakes as an alternative to Mercedes as they are the same part. Similarly when it comes to suspension components we can recommend Lemforder as an alternative, an OEM manufacturer that meets all stringent factory specifications.
-Why do we use Genuine Mercedes Benz Lubricants and Fluids?
Unlike other service facilities, we only use Genuine Mercedes Branded Engine Oil, Transmission Fluids and Antifreeze. After years of servicing and repairs on the Mercedes Benz Brand, we have seen time and time again the damage cheaper lubricants can cause to your vehicle over time. Blocked PCV units, fouled breather cases and oil galleries, Transmission Shift Issues, stretched timing chains especially on the m271 engine, and variable camshaft sprocket faults can occur as a result of service providers attempting to cut operating costs by using inferior lubricants. Furthermore we charge a discounted rate on all fluids and lubricants and are in most cases cheaper than the price charged for aftermarket lubricants.

Prostar works exclusively on Mercedes Benz vehicles. Whether it be a classic w113 280SL Pagoda restoration or a scheduled Service B6 on the current flagship Mercedes Benz S63, we are able to provide a true dealership alternative at a fraction of the cost. All tooling is geared towards Mercedes Benz, all factory training is Mercedes Benz specific, and all diagnostic equipment and procedures follow Mercedes Benz requirements, furthermore we have several alternate repair methods specific to Mercedes that result in large savings on repairs.
